by Dignity News
“Korean SK Nexilis will build a factory in Stalowa Wola to produce copper foil used in batteries used in electric cars. The foil produced here will go to customers across Europe and will be the largest plant of its kind in the world”, reports the Ministry of State Assets.

The value of the investment in the first stage is almost PLN 3 billion. Around 500 people will find work here. Ultimately, the investment will reach 10 billion, which means hundreds more new jobs. The production process is to include the initial processing of raw material, the copper pickling process, the electrolytic coating process, cutting and product quality control, together with loading for transport. The estimated production volume is approximately 137 tonnes per day and 50,000 tonnes per year.

“This will make Stalowa Wola an important place on the world map of the energy transition. I am glad that we will be able to carry out this project together in cooperation with South Korea”, said Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of State Assets Jacek Sasin during the launch ceremony.

Many countries applied for this factory. However, the Korean investor chose Poland said Minister Sasin who thanked the management of SKC (the conglomerate to which SK Nexilis belongs) for deciding to invest in Poland, in Stalowa Wola.

“We know that competition was high. This is also a good example of the fact that when there are good projects, when we are well prepared, when we cooperate well, then we are an attractive place for investment”, assessed the head of the ministry of state assets.

Deputy Prime Minister Sasin stressed that currently, the economic ties between Poland and Korea are very strong. In this context, he mentioned joint investments carried out by state-owned companies, including Orlen or Grupa Azoty, which is building a plant in Police. The contractor is a Korean company.
