KGHM Polska Miedź has signed a major contract with Nexans for the supply of copper cathodes which are the Company’s primary copper product, for the years 2023-2027. The contract provides for annual deliveries of nearly 22,800 to over 27,800 tonnes of cathodes. The contract includes an Evergreen option allowing the contract to be automatically extended for further five-year periods.
‘KGHM’s copper cathodes are a product of the highest proven quality, and another contract with Nexans is not only an expression of trust and satisfaction on the part of our customers, but also represents a commitment on our part to ensure the highest level of performance of our work’, said Mirosław Kidoń, KGHM’s Vice President for Foreign Assets.
‘We have decided to commit to the 5-year Evergreen agreement to secure a large portion of our future cathode requirements for our French mill in Lens. Our joint willingness to formalise a long-term commitment will allow Nexans to continue to benefit from the highest and stable quality of cathodes, combined with an efficient and low-carbon supply chain by rail between Poland and France’, added Christophe Allain, Global Portfolio Director, Non Ferrous Metals.
Nexans and KGHM subsidiaries have joined the Copper Mark initiative to promote responsible copper production worldwide. KGHM’s long-standing collaboration with Nexans began in the 1970s and is one of the oldest in the Group.
