by Dignity News
On the initiative of Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki and Prime Minister of Sweden Magdalena Anderson, as well as the chairmen of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen and the European Council Charles Michel, on Thursday, May 5, the International Donors’ Conference for Ukraine will be held in Warsaw.

The aim of this conference is to collect the largest possible additional funds transferred directly to Ukraine – said Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Paweł Jabłoński. The event will be hybrid; some of the guests will appear in person in Warsaw, and others will connect online.

The meeting will be held at the level of heads of state and government, with the participation of representatives of global business and financial institutions including partners from the European Union, the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. The conference will also be attended by representatives of international humanitarian institutions, such as the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, the United Nations Children’s Fund, the International Committee of the Red Cross and the International Federation of Red Crescent Societies.

Deputy Minister Paweł Jabłoński emphasized that Ukraine still needs urgent help, including financial aim.

“It also needs basic materials, food, clothing, medicines, hygiene products. The funds that were transferred were very large, but they are still insufficient because the scale of the damage is enormous”, said Paweł Jabłoński.

The government spokesman Piotr Müller said that the talks would also concern “aid related to additional means in the field of armaments”.

“Poland has been very active for many weeks. Many billions of PLN allocated in equipment is already in Ukraine to defend its territory, and both Poland and Europe from Russia’s attack”, added Piotr Müller.
