From 26-29 October 2023, the 26th International Book Fair in Krakow will take place at EXPO Krakow, with the National Library as its honorary patron. The motto of this year’s event is a quote from Wisława Szymborska’s poem Birthday – ‘So much at once of the world from all sides of the world’.
The International Book Fair in Krakow is a meeting place for literature from all over the world, a space for intercultural and intergenerational dialogue, a platform for exchanging ideas, thoughts, experiences, and views. That is why this year’s fair, at the end of October, will bring together people from different backgrounds, cities, countries, and ages, all united by one thing – a shared passion for literature. This year’s event will be accompanied by important anniversaries for the Polish publishing market, such as the 10th anniversary of the awarding of the title of UNESCO City of Literature to Krakow.
More than 400 exhibitors have announced their participation in the event, preparing their premieres just for the fair including fiction, non-fiction, and literature. The events will include the Women’s Literature Festival, Young Adult, Encounters with Fantasy, Mountain and Travel Literature Festival, Non-fiction Encounters, and the Dark Stories Festival.
The National Library’s stand will offer an overview of the current publishing offer and the opportunity to purchase books at a discount.
During the Fair, on 27 October, the National Library is inviting participants to a meeting ‘The importance of the ISBN in the context of legal deposit acquisition’ during which the importance of the ISBN and the rules for assigning it to publications will be discussed. It will also present issues related to legal deposit transfer against a historical and contemporary background.
