Insect breeding facility under construction in the Lubuskie voivodeship

by Dignity News
A new HiProMine plant is under construction in Karkoszowa in the Lubuskie Voivodeship, where large-scale insect breeding will begin next spring. Rafał Szczelina, director of the new HiProMine plant under construction, is convinced that the investment will increase production capacity and also strengthen the company’s position as an industry leader.

The insect protein industry is becoming increasingly demanding, the innovations being implemented here have become a key element of broad environmental protection. Insect protein, as an ingredient in animal feed, is becoming increasingly popular.

“The new plant will be equipped with specialised, state-of-the-art machinery profiled to our technological thinking. We are planning to launch the plant in early spring next year. In the first 3-4 months, production should reach about 75% of capacity. After 12 months at the latest, we would like to use full production capacity”, said HiProMine CEO Michal Pokorski a few months ago.

In addition to construction work, the company is also intensively preparing to implement production processes and is also recruiting employees.

“The decision to build a new plant, where we will breed insects on a mass scale and produce feed components such as protein or oil from them, was a necessity. It is not just a question of square metres, unique machinery, and a production line. It is a strategy to look to the future and remain competitive in an era of constant change”, explains Rafal Szczelina.

HiProMine currently operates in Robaków near Poznań and this location of operations will remain. This is where the Company is expanding its Genetic Centre. The Karkoszów plant, on the other hand, will be the second and will focus primarily on production, which is estimated to be as much as 40 times greater than before.

In addition to protein or insect oil, an organic insect fertiliser will also be produced in Karkoszów.
