Inhabitants of Łódź agglomeration spend the most on heating

Heat Decor has prepared a summary of the heating season 2021/2022. 1005 respondents from Kraków, Warsaw, Bydgoszcz, Toruń, Gdańsk, Szczecin, Łódź, Poznań, Katowice and Wrocław answered the questions about how they heat their homes and how much they pay for it.

The inhabitants of Łódź spend the most on heating. Heating costs in December 2021 in the range of PLN 700 – PLN 1499 are declared by 33.3% of inhabitants of Lodz and its surroundings. The second place, with a result of 28%, was taken by the urban agglomeration of Warsaw, and the third place by Wrocław, 27.3%.

Over 30% of the respondents declare that their houses/flats are not properly warmed up in winter.

According to research, the most popular source of heating in Poland is gas. It is used by over 40% of respondents. Coal, which is still popular in Poland, was in second place.

According to the data collected so far as part of the Central Register of Emissions of Buildings coal and wood, that is, solid fuels are in the first place (1.5 million out of 2.6 million declarations). Gas is in second place (800,000 declarations).

Gas as the main source of heating turned out to be the most popular fuel in the Poznań agglomeration. Coal as the main source of heating turned out to be the most widely used in the Toruń agglomeration.

Toruń, Bydgoszcz and Łódź are urban agglomerations where coal heating is the most popular. In these agglomerations also the largest number of respondents have coal-fired stoves.

Łódź, Szczecin and Wrocław are urban agglomerations where the inhabitants most often declare that their house / flat is not sufficiently warmed up.

The respondents were also asked whether their plans include modernization of heating or replacement of the heating system.

Nearly 50% of the respondents are not planning to replace the heating and do not consider it necessary. Approximately 19% do not intend to modernize the installation, however, they believe that there is such a need. Finally, 24% of surveyed people are planning to do it in the future, and almost 7% within the next year.
