Infrastructure Minister Andrzej Adamczyk said that the lack of labor in construction and transport, as well as more expensive building materials cause problems for contractors of infrastructure investments. Despite of it, there is currently no risk of construction closings, says Adamczyk.
“There is an outflow of workers from Ukraine who have returned to their country to defend Ukraine against Russian aggression. It is estimated that up to 30% and in car transport – up to 40% of employees. In terms of the lack of labor, the presence of employees from Ukraine plays a very important role in the implementation of our ambitious plans”, said Adamczyk.
The minister of infrastructure announced on Thursday that it is important whether Poland would cope with pan-European, global inflation, the impending economic crisis, or its symptoms. He emphasized that the government focuses on road and rail investments, seaports and the construction of facilities that protect against floods.
Adamczyk added that the ministry is in constant dialogue with the largest companies executing orders and in contact with local governments. He emphasized that the lack of building materials, rapid price increases, and unpredictable deliveries cause a difficult situation in the construction industry, but for the time being there is no risk of construction closings.
The minister of infrastructure said that corrections to contracts are discussed between the Ministry of Finance and the Prosecutor General’s Office on the one hand, and contractors on the other.
“I hope that this dialogue will allow us to maintain the pace of investments and that it will not jeopardize new investments. Entrepreneurs implementing large investments say that they will do everything possible to complete them”, reported Adamczyk.
