by Dignity News
From 10 to 12 November 2023. the Józef Piłsudski Museum in Sulejówek is inviting participants to a series of events that will make up the celebrations of the 105th anniversary of Poland’s regaining its Independence.

On 10 November, the Museum presents a scientific debate “How much does Independence cost?” Its motto will be the words of Marshal Piłsudski said before Poland regained its Independence, before 1918 “Poles want independence, but they would like this independence to cost two pennies and two drops of blood. And Independence is not only a precious good, but a very costly one!”

“We understand the cost of Independence as those two pennies including costs calculated in real currency and material costs measured by the ruin of the economy. We would like to highlight the human cost, those two drops of soldiers’ blood shed in the struggle for Independence and the borders of the Polish Republic” announces the Museum.

The debate will be attended by Dr Robert Andrzejczyk, Prof. Marek Dutkiewicz, Prof. Grzegorz Nowik and Prof. Włodzimierz Suleja.

On 11 November, Independence Day, visitors will be treated to a display of military equipment in addition to the permanent temporary exhibitions. Heavy and light military equipment will be presented by the units of the 5th Mazovian Brigade of Territorial Defence Forces, 18th Capital Brigade of Territorial Defence Forces, 1st Tadeusz Kościuszko Warsaw Armoured Brigade and Military Institute of Armour and Automotive Technology.

On 12 November, the Museum will recall the history of the organisation Women’s Military Training, which aims to remember Polish women working for Poland’s Independence and development.

“Together with the Polish PWK Historical Reconstruction Group, we would like to invite everyone to celebrate together. Together with the female members of the group, you will have the opportunity to move back in time and learn a little more about the profiles of women associated with the PWK, see what they wore and what their tasks were” informs the Józef Piłsudski Museum.
