Adam Niedzielski, Polish Minister of Health admitted that it is a sad time as Poland has exceeded one hundred thousand covid deaths. In the last 24 hours, 11,400 new infections and 493 deaths due to Covid-19 were recorded in Poland.
Until 10 of January, 193 infections with the Omicron variant were detected in Poland. Wojciech Andrusiewicz, the spokesman for the minister of health, informed about at least the first two deaths caused by this variant.
The spokesman revealed that two men from Lesser Poland died, both suffered from multiple diseases. They were older people, one was 92 years old, the other 85. Andrusiewicz added that those people could probably live if they got vaccinated. Unfortunately, they were both not vaccinated.
The highest dynamics of disease growth, over 30%, is currently observed in Małopolska and Podkarpacie Regions. Mazowsze and the Lubelskie and Podlaskie voivodships also recorded significant increases. What is disturbing is that these are the places where the fourth wave of the pandemic started.
Minister of Health warned that the darkest scenarios forecast about over 100,000. or even 200 or 300 thousand infections daily. He emphasized that they are only assumptions and the Ministry is trying to be prepared for each scenario.
