The Council of Ministers has adopted a draft law that changes the ways in which agricultural pensions from the Agricultural Social Insurance Fund (KRUS) are calculated. The proposed solution will lead to a de facto equalisation with the pension from the Social Insurance Institution (ZUS). Farmers will also be able to receive a supplement to their agricultural pensions.
Today, the amounts of pensions from KRUS and ZUS differ significantly. Currently, the amount of the KRUS pension is determined on the basis of the so-called basic pension. Thanks to the new solution, the method of valorisation of agricultural pensions will change, by linking the amount of the basic KRUS pension to the amount of the lowest ZUS pension”, informs the Prime Minister’s Office.
If a farmer earns 25 years, he or she will be entitled to receive an agricultural pension in the amount of the minimum pension from ZUS.
In addition, it will be possible to obtain a supplement to agricultural pensions. This will be ensured by a mechanism compensating for the payment of a double and additional pension insurance premium for conducting non-agricultural economic activity in addition to agricultural business or conducting agricultural activity on agricultural holdings with an area exceeding 50 ha.
“The Polish countryside is a provider of food security throughout the country. Today we are repaying a debt of gratitude to its inhabitants” said Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki while presenting new regulations on agricultural pensions adopted by the Council of Ministers.
“We cooperate with agricultural organisations, we listen carefully to the voice of farmers, we accept their requests, comments and demands. In difficult times for the development of agriculture, we support the Polish countryside”, the Prime Minister added, and mentioned the following as examples of this support: blocking sale of Polish land, subsidies for farmers, 0 % VAT on fertilisers, subsidies for agricultural fuel and the introduction of agricultural retail trade.
