Exhibition dedicated to Banksy to come for the first time to Poland. It has already been viewed by more than 2 million people worldwide

The exposition ‘The Mystery of Banksy – Genius Mind’ will soon come to Poland. The exhibition devoted to the world’s most popular street artist will first be on display in Wrocław and later in Poznań.

Banksy is an artist who has had a huge impact on the perception of street art in the world. Although there will still be people who compare street art to vandalism, the anonymous artist has contributed to the enduring interest in the trend. His works mock the ubiquitous hypocrisy, sloganeering and refuse to acknowledge the sacred.

Street art seems to defy confinement in galleries, but Banksy’s popularity and anonymity has brought reproductions of his work back into exhibitions around the world.

The exhibition will feature 150 reproductions of the artist’s well-known works, which can disappear very quickly from their place of creation. The set of works was first shown in Munich in 2021 and has since been seen by more than 2 million people. In Poland, the exhibition will be open to the public from 15 March in Wrocław and will later also come to Poznań.

The exhibition acts as an extraordinary journey through the artist’s entire creative period. It presents more than 150 inspiring street art motifs – graffiti, photographs, sculptures, video installations and prints on various media such as canvas, fabric, aluminium, and plexiglass.

Dedicated to Banksy’s work, the exhibition is, for obvious reasons, not authorised, which is controversial to some people. However, the curator of the event, Virginia Jean, clarifies and emphasises that the organisers are not treating the event as a ‘Banksy exhibition’, but a tribute to the artist. It is also an opportunity to see the street artist’s work for those who cannot afford to travel and follow him.
