IKEA Retail Poland in the 2023 financial year (1 September 2022 to 31 August 2023) recorded revenue exceeding PLN 6 billion and 9% increase on the previous year. In total revenue, the online channel reached a share of 30%. In July this year, the company also celebrated 80 years of global operations and 62 years of presence in Poland. Currently, every fifth product sold in IKEA shops worldwide originates from Polish factories.
“Although challenging, the past financial year again shows that a value-based business makes sense. We continue to respond to the growing expectations of male and female customers by developing our entire omnichannel ecosystem, consisting of shops, new formats, or remote contact points. We want to be closer to people and realistically support them in living a better life every day. Living at home has never been more important and creating a better-conceived home will always be our goal”, said Marina Dubakina, President and CEO of Sustainability at IKEA Retail in Poland.
Poland is one of the first markets in the world where IKEA has introduced its smaller format – Planning and Ordering Studios. The company closed the 2023 financial year with 9 new customer locations: in Opole, Lubin, Bielsko-Biała, Olsztyn, Kielce, Toruń, Rzeszów and Warsaw.
IKEA has invested in the warehouse and logistics infrastructure of the e-commerce channel, which has consequently improved the shopping experience. Customers can now order through IKEA.pl, by phone or the IKEA mobile app, both mattresses and smaller furniture and system items such as PAX wardrobes and BESTA shelving with faster and cheaper delivery. Delivering 2 million parcels to customers helped the online channel reach a 30% share of total revenue for 2023.
