Deputy Minister of Interior and Administration, Paweł Szefernaker, announced that over PLN 240 million will be allocated to spa municipalities as part of the Strategic Investments Program. Co-financing will be provided to 49 municipalities that applied for such support.
On Saturday, the deputy head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Paweł Szefernaker, and spokesman for the government, Piotr Müller, visited Ustka, where they announced the results of the Polish Governmental Order: Strategic Investments Program – “Polish Health Resorts”. In this program, local governments could submit two applications: for PLN 2 million or for PLN 5 million. Co-financing may amount to 98% of the investment value, the required own contribution of the commune is 2%.
“These funds, up to PLN 5 million are targeted for the investments that municipalities submitted to increase their tourist base and spa opportunities. These funds will be allocated in large part to the revitalization of spa parks, the construction of swimming pools so as to increase the tourist opportunities of these communes, or, as in Ustka, for the modernization of roads”, explained Paweł Szefernaker.
Explained the need to support these municipalities, the deputy head of the Ministry of Interior and Administration pointed to their losses due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Due to the lockdown, the communes did not receive taxes resulting from, for example, the health resort tax.
“In the years 2020-2021, the health resort communes had large losses due to the lack of these fees, which are in their budgets on a daily basis”, noted the deputy minister.
Government spokesman Piotr Müller added that apart from the funds from the Strategic Investments Program, the construction of the S6 expressway – the Kashubian Route is also important for coastal municipalities.
“Soon, within a few weeks, the road between Gdynia Wielki Kack and Bozympol Wielki will be opened. It will be an important transport corridor”, emphasized Piotr Müller.
