Deputy Minister of Infrastructure Marcin Horała emphasizes that the master plan of the planned investment of the Central Communication Port (CPK) is now being completed. Under this project within 15 minutes from Warsaw, the Solidarność Airport has been planned, which in the first stage would be able to handle 40 million passengers per year.
“The master plan, i.e. such a feasibility study combined with the airport general plan in accordance with the aviation law, is about to be completed”, said Horała.
The deputy minister stated that a strategic location study and a strategic environmental impact assessment had already been prepared. The Central Communication Port is a new transport system in Poland, which will integrate air, rail and road transport.
“We have developed a strategic location study, i.e. a corridor study of the new transport system, which heart is the hub and the CPK airport. Also, the strategic environmental impact assessment, environmental inventories are carried out”, emphasized the deputy minister of infrastructure.
In October 2021, the company Central Communication Port signed a contract with Arup Polska for the implementation of a master plan for the investment. Arup Polska, a part of the global design office Arup, has been selected as the contractor for the master plan by the CPK tender committee. The contract is worth approx. EUR 6.5 million net in the scope of basic works.
The master plan is a study that will be a source of detailed data for the CPK regarding air traffic forecasts, investment staging, dimensioning of infrastructure elements and specialist pre-design documentation. It is also to take into account the integration of the airport with the rail and road infrastructure as well as the issues of air space management being the responsibility of the Polish Air Navigation Services Agency.
