American television NBC and Reuters report that US President Joe Biden will travel to Brussels next week for an extraordinary summit of NATO leaders devoted to Russian aggression against Ukraine, which would be held on March 23. According to CNN in Washington, the extension of the American president’s stay in Europe and his visit to Poland after the NATO summit are being seriously considered.

Neither Joe Biden’s trip to Poland nor the NATO summit in Brussels have been officially announced so far.

Paweł Jabłoński, deputy minister of foreign affairs, commented that the Polish government talks to all partners directly at all levels, so it would not be surprising if such an event took place in the coming days.

In the opinion of the deputy chief of Polish diplomacy, it is necessary for the North Atlantic Pact as a whole to decide what to do next. “It is possible that such a meeting could serve this purpose”, added Jabłoński.

“The talks could include many issues related to the strengthening of Ukraine’s security. In order to be effective, those issues should be discussed between the allies”, explained the deputy minister.

Assessing the situation in Ukraine, Paweł Jabłoński said that being unable to achieve tactical goals Russia brutally attacks civilians, shells housing estates and hospitals, not even taking into account the potential victims, but deliberately leading to casualties. Therefore, new sanctions are a necessary tool to curb Russian brutality, and the existing ones are insufficient.

“We wanted more and we want more sanctions all the time, this is a step forward, but we hope not the last move, we present more suggestions. The most important thing is the full embargo on Russian hydrocarbons, there is no need to play half-measures”, emphasized the deputy minister of foreign affairs.
