Coventry University Research Institute Europe has been opened in Wrocław. This is an extension of the British university’s activities beyond its existing Wrocław campus. The unit will conduct research and development work and build competencies that meet contemporary market challenges.
Researchers employed in Wrocław will collaborate with researchers in the UK and the university’s partners in Europe on research projects on contemporary world issues, such as green transformation or the future of transport.
In 2020, Coventry University was the first British university to open a branch in Poland. It currently educates students in Wrocław with an IT and business profile. The just-launched Coventry University Research Institute Europe (CURIE) will complement this activity by drawing on the scientific output of the university’s sixteen existing research centres, whose knowledge and expertise are designed to support the work of local experts.
The new research centre focuses on the challenges of climate neutrality, the future of transport, cyber security and digital development. It is intended to provide a space for knowledge exchange with industry, academics, local decision-makers and business environment institutions in Poland and Europe.
CURIE was symbolically inaugurated at the Made in Wrocław conference by Professor Richard Dashwood, Coventry University’s Vice-Chancellor for Research and Development.
“The establishment of the Coventry University Research Institute Europe marks a significant milestone in the University’s journey to address key global challenges. By combining the research, knowledge and expertise of our experts from Poland and the UK and collaborating in the European market, we can deliver innovative solutions for the benefit of future generations”, said Prof Dashwood.
