The construction of a key nitrogen fertiliser production facility at ANWIL of the ORLEN Group will be completed in June 2023, allowing the Wloclawek-based company to increase the company’s production capacity by approximately 50 % and expand its product offering for Polish agriculture. The investment is already about 92 % complete.
The company has signed an agreement with the Italian company Tecnimont to change the completion date of the granulation plant to the end of June 2023 and put it into operation at the end of July 2023.
According to the company, this is due to supply chain disruptions and other macroeconomic conditions, which are significantly impacted by the war in Ukraine and the pandemic. Under the agreement, an annex will be prepared to the contract for the design, supply and turnkey construction of the granulation plant within the production complex under construction. The agreement with Tecnimont is one of the three most important contracts concluded as part of the expansion of fertiliser production capacity at ANWIL.
Modern fertiliser line installations are being constructed on the premises of the Włocławek-based company. The investment implemented by ANWIL includes a nitric acid and neutralisation unit, a granulation unit and auxiliary infrastructure. Their construction will increase ANWIL’s production capacity from 966,000 tonnes to 1,461,000 tonnes per year, and the company’s product portfolio will be enriched with four types of fertilisers meeting the highest quality standards – coarse nitrate, ammonium nitro sulphate, nitro-chalk with sulphur and nitro-chalk with magnesium with improved granule properties.
The ongoing investment, estimated to approximately PLN 1.7 billion, will strengthen ANWIL’s position on the fertiliser market and as the largest employer in the region. Upon its completion, more jobs will be created by the company.
