City bikes are more popular. Data from Nextbike Poland shows that the number of rentals increased to nearly 8 million in 2022, by 10 % compared to the previous season. In total, users rode urban bikes for more than 3.6 million hours. The number of new users of the service exceeded 273,000.
Between January and September, the company’s revenues increased by around 8 %, gross profit on sales increased by over 26 % in that period (to PLN 8.5 million). These are the operator’s best results in its more than ten-year history.
“Poles are on the move back after the pandemic. The number of bike rentals for the year amounted to almost 8 million (+10 % compared to last year). Warsaw is in the leading position, as it is the largest urban centre. Nearly 4 million vehicle rentals in the capital shows a 15 % increase compared to last year.
The best day of 2022 turned out to be 5 June when the summer season started with over 58,000 bike rentals. On average, there were almost 30,000 rentals each day. The total time spent on the bikes was 219,172,320 minutes, or 152,203 days, which translates into more than 400 years of continuous rental.
Poles rode an impressive distance of over 33 million kilometres on rented single-track bikes. This is as many as almost 50 journeys to the moon and back or 28,000 routes of the Tour de Pologne race.
Next year, the Nextbike Group will launch a refreshed urban bicycle system in Warsaw. All the bikes will be replaced with modern Smartbike 2.0, equipped with 4th generation technology and a GPS system, which will allow users to have more freedom to use the system.
Nextbike Poland states that it is a leader in providing and operating self-service urban bicycle rentals. It has been operating in Poland since 2011 and has been listed on the NewConnect market since August 2017.
