During the debate at the Polish PowerPol Energy and Heat Congress, Ireneusz Zyska, Deputy Minister of Climate and Environment, said that Poland will generate approximately 28 GW of installed capacity in renewable energy sources (RES) in 2025. The announced change would mean a 75 % increase in the share of renewable energy sources in the Polish energy mix.
Zyska emphasized that in 2025, Poland will generate an installed capacity of approximately 28 GW in renewable energy sources in Poland, in comparison to the current 16 GW, according to data for November 2021. He explained that these estimates are based on the results of the auction for the sale of renewable energy and on the issued grid connections.
According to the deputy minister, in 2030 half of the installed capacity in the National Power System will be generated from various technologies of renewable energy, and hence the development of distributed energy, biogas plants and clusters is necessary for Poland. Zyska noted that the more distributed energy, the more the Polish energy sector will relieve large generators.
According to the data of the Energy Regulatory Office, at the end of 2020, the installed RES capacity in Poland amounted to a total of 9.98 GW compared to 9.11 GW in 2019.
