Budimex, the largest company on the market of road and railway construction in Poland, intends to invest in renewable energy sources. So far, the company has proved to be a contractor of such projects. One of the last such initiatives is the “Karcino Coastal Wind Farm” which will include 17 Vestas 3 MW wind turbines with a total capacity of 51 MW. The value of the project by Budimex is PLN 8 million net.
Previously, as part of the Kończewo wind farm, Budimex implemented an investment that included the renovation of municipal roads, the construction of access roads and assembly sites for a complex of 21 Kończewo wind farms with a total capacity of 42 MW. The total value of the project was PLN 2 million net.
The company also built a wind farm in Zajączków. The contract included the construction of 24 wind turbines V80 / 2.0 MW with a total height of 120 m, transmission networks, teletechnical and IT (fiber optic) networks, transformer stations and main switching stations in Zajączkowo, access roads to wind farms (including service roads), assembly yards and renovation of communal roads. The equipment supplier was VESTAS Denmark. The total value of this project was PLN 50 million net.
Artur Popko, the president of Budimex, said that the company is finalizing the purchase of a firm with a permit to build a wind farm installation with a capacity of 7 MW.
The head of Budimex explained that so far, Budimex acted as a contractor for investments in renewable energy sources, but now it is also planning to get involved as an investor.
