Border crossings with Ukraine to be added to the list of critical infrastructure

by Dignity News

“In order to provide a 100 per cent guarantee that military aid, equipment, ammunition, humanitarian aid, medical aid will reach the Ukrainian side without any delays, we will include border crossings with Ukraine and designated sections of roads and railways on the list of critical infrastructure. We will also draw practical consequences from this to ensure that this traffic in terms of equipment, ammunition, medical and humanitarian resources will arrive there without any delays and without any inhibitions”, announced Prime Minister Donald Tusk.

Critical infrastructure are systems and their functionally connected objects, including buildings, equipment, installations, services that are key to the security of the state and its citizens and that serve to ensure the efficient functioning of public administration, as well as institutions and businesses.

Critical infrastructure protection, on the other hand, is any action aimed at ensuring the functionality, continuity of operations and integrity of critical infrastructure in order to prevent threats, risks or vulnerabilities and to limit and neutralise their effects, as well as to restore such infrastructure rapidly in the event of failures, attacks and other events disrupting its proper functioning.

During the conference, the head of the Polish government referred to the invitation of the President of Ukraine to meet at the Polish-Ukrainian border.

“I am convinced, and I will repeat it once again, that in these difficult times of war, neither Poland nor Ukraine need to prove to themselves or to the world that we are in complete solidarity. And nothing will change in this regard”, assured Tusk.

As agreed during the Polish Prime Minister’s visit to Kyiv, a meeting of the Polish and Ukrainian governments will be held in Warsaw on 28 March.

“Technical and political talks with Ukraine are continued uninterruptedly – including on the situation on the border, trade,” added Donald Tusk.
