“LOT Polish Airlines is expected to have 11 new Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft in its fleet by the end of the first half of 2025”, the company’s president Michał Fijoł has announced. He added that the carrier will acquire the machines through operating leases. “Three MAXes will arrive in the first half of this year, the first of them in late March/early April. And two more will follow within the first half of the year, meaning we will have all of them for the peak summer season”, said the president of the Polish national air carrier. A further eight aircraft are to be delivered in the first half of 2025.
The Boeing 737 MAX 8 is a twin-engine, narrow-body jet aircraft manufactured by the US-based The Boeing Company. The aircraft can take 186 passengers on board.
Michal Fijol conveyed that an audit of the carrier’s 2023 results has begun and will be ‘completed within a few weeks’. According to earlier announcements, the company forecasts a net profit of PLN 1 billion for last year.
“LOT repaid the first instalment of state aid of PLN 450 million on the last day of December last year. This year will see the repayment of the next tranche and so on for the next few years. A total of PLN 1 billion 800 million. We must continue our careful commercial policy and cost discipline”, stressed the CEO.
Fijoł recalled that last year LOT carried 10,000,000 passengers on board its aircrafts. The company’s figures show that in January alone it was 685,000. From 13 March, LOT will begin flying to Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan. Connections on this route will be operated by Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft.
On long-haul routes, LOT Polish Airlines flies directly to airports in the United States, Canada, China, Japan, and South Korea. These connections are operated by Boeing 787 Dreamliners. In addition, the Polish carrier has direct connections to most European capitals.
