According to a survey by UCE Research and Offerista Group, a statistical family of four will spend an average of around PLN 800-1200 on Easter groceries this year. Most Poles (17.3 %) intend to spend 200-300 PLN on Easter food per person. This is the amount declared by consumers earning PLN 3,000-4,999 net per month.
“This indication represents the Polish average expenditure per person at the Easter. In my opinion, this is neither a lot nor a little. Of course, it all depends on how many people the festivities are organised for. The individual approach to celebrating Easter also matters. However, based on the above results, it can be concluded that a statistical family of four will spend an average of around 800-1200 PLN on Easter groceries this year. Besides, last year it looked very similar”, says co-author of the study and retail market expert from Offerista Group Robert Biegaj.
In second place in the list was the highest financial threshold in the survey, over PLN 500. It was announced by 13.9 % of respondents. Almost as many people (13.4 %) do not yet know the costs. 8.1 % of respondents announced that they would spend between PLN 50 and 100.
The fewest indications were for expenses of less than 50 PLN – 2.3 %. This is the lowest value that respondents could give. 2.8 % declared that they would not pay anything for Easter food, e.g. because they do not celebrate the holiday or are going away for the time.
“Expenditure of less than PLN 50 per person is rather the domain of Poles who celebrate Easter very symbolically or are on the verge of poverty. As the results show, this level is more or less similar year on year. The range of PLN 50-100 can be treated as the above-mentioned value, as this type of spending is rather modest at current shop prices. This indication gained a few percentage points y-o-y, which may indicate that the poorest Poles are saving even more than last year”, assesses Biegaj.
