According to the EV 1000 survey prepared by EV Klub Polska, the average cost of an electric car journey in Poland is 23 PLN per 100 km. More than half (58 %) of drivers who only charge their cars at home pay 12-15 PLN per 100 km for energy, Users of electric cars cover on average 15-20 thousand km, per year – the same as drivers of conventional cars.
“The data from the respondents show us key information about the use of electric vehicles in Poland. Apart from the fact that they have covered a total of more than 36 million kilometres, most users (60 %) live in single-family buildings, in cities with a population of more than 500 000. They make their daily journeys in the city (58 %), reducing costs not only on charging at home, but also generating savings of PLN 89 per day by parking in paid parking zones”, points out president of EV Klub Polska Łukasz Lewandowski.
The study shows that charging electric cars at home is the most economical solution. The cost of driving 100 km, depending on the selected tariff, differs by several PLN. For the most popular tariff (G11), it is PLN 14.94. For G12, on the other hand, this cost is PLN 14.57. The cheapest options are the G12n and G12w variants, where the price for covering 100 km is PLN 12.39 and PLN 13.83 respectively.
Most respondents (41 %) charge their vehicles 1-2 times a week, 17 % daily and 26 % 2-4 times a week. Frequent charging is a result of the distances covered, with 18 % of respondents indicating that they drive between 51 and 75 km per day, and 17 % of respondents each indicating the ranges 41-50 and 76-100 km.
A total of 965 respondents took part in the 2023 – EV1000 electric car user survey in Poland. Data was collected from owners of 66 different car models, 30 brands and 15 publicly available charging station operators.
