Millions of young people were reading Polish comics with adventures of their favourite heroes including “Tytus, Romek i A’Tomek”, “Janosik”, “Kajtek i Koko” or “Kajko i Kokosz”. Fans of the cult series now have a chance to meet their favourite heroes again. On Monday, April 11, 2022, the Auction House DESA Unicum is inviting them for the “Comics. Re-generation” auction.

DESA Unicum is offering original and unique comic book charts and book illustrations, which for many readers have a highly emotional and sentimental value. The auction includes original boards, covers and drawings from the best comic stories as well as illustrations for children’s books and satirical magazines.

The auction will include 88 boards, covers and illustrations from the most popular Polish comic books by such authors as: Henryk Jerzy Chmielewski, author of “Tytus, Romek i A’Tomek”, Janusz Christa, author of the adventures “Kajtek i Koko”, Bogusław Polch, Tadeusz Baranowski, the author of the series about the professor Nerwosolek, or Mieczysław Wiśniewski, the author of the series about Captain Kloss.

The board from the latest comic book “Toshiro” by the legendary Janusz Pawlak, known under the pseudonym Clarence Weatherspoon, will also go under the hammer. There will also be works by Grażyna Foltyn-Kasprzak, Nikodem Cabała and works by Aleksandra Spanowicz, rarely appearing on the market. A collectable treat is Tadeusz Raczkiewicz’s Potop from 1974, which is a never-published complete comic book depicting the Polish epic book by Henryk Sienkiewicz.
