President Andrzej Duda spoke with US President Joe Biden and other European leaders about the crisis between Russia and Ukraine.
Andrzej Duda emphasized that he represented Central Europe and countries that are generally located on NATO’s eastern flank. After the meeting, he announced that the National Security Council would be convened.
The decision to talk Joe Biden with Andrzej Duda and the leaders of the most important European countries was made on Monday afternoon. According to the White House, the US President was announced to talk to President Duda and the leaders of the European Union, France, Germany, Italy, Great Britain and NATO.
During the secured videoconference, the leaders discussed possible scenarios and actions that NATO countries could take in the case of Russian aggression. President Duda announced that in the coming days he would share the assumptions of their talks with the most important Polish politicians. For this purpose, the National Security Council will be convened on Friday.
In the opinion of President Duda, there is no indication that Poland is in any current danger. Polish president accentuated the unity of the North Atlantic Alliance. “There is no ally at the moment that would lack of solidarity with Ukraine, with the rest of NATO”- said Andrzej Duda.
The White House also referred to the videoconference on Ukraine. According to Biden’s administration, the online meeting started at 21:05 and ended at 22:25 Polish time. The US president also commented on the talks on social media. “I spoke today with European leaders about the deployment of Russian troops on the border with Ukraine. We discussed our joint efforts to stop further Russian aggression including preparations to impose severe economic sanctions on Russia and strengthening security on the eastern flank”, wrote Joe Biden.
