Mariusz Błaszczak, the Minister of National Defense said on Sunday, February 6, that the immediate arrival of additional US forces is the best response to the threats facing NATO’s eastern flank. It also proves that allied obligations are treated very seriously in the USA and is the best proof of the slogan “stronger together”.
For several days, more soldiers of the 82nd Airborne Division from Fort Bragg have been landing in Rzeszów.
According to the head of the Ministry of National Defense, American soldiers will operate in the south-eastern part of our country.
The head of the Ministry of National Defense emphasized that “US and Polish soldiers have repeatedly exercised together and participated in joint missions around the world. 1700 soldiers will be transferred to Poland in the next few hours. They will operate in the south-eastern part of our country, on the eastern flank of NATO. This place attracts our attention, but also the attention of NATO and the USA”.
Minister Blaszczak recalled that as part of military cooperation within the eFP format, American, British, Romanian and Croatian troops are already stationed in Poland, and Polish troops stay in Latvia and Romania.
On Monday, February 7, the Polish Minister of National Defense is going to London, where he will meet with the head of the British Ministry of Defense, Ben Wallace.
According to the Ministry of National Defense, the ministers will discuss matters concerning threats from Russia to Ukraine and Central European countries, the situation in Belarus and the next stages of military cooperation between Poland and Great Britain, in particular regarding the development of the Polish Army’s capabilities in the area of armaments and cybersecurity.
