“Almost 900,000 refugees from Ukraine have taken up employment in Poland under simplified rules. Ukrainians working in Poland supplement our labour market. Here in Poland, taxes and contributions are paid”, said Minister of Family and Social Policy Marlena Maląg.

On Monday, the Warsaw Conference “Permanent Working Review Conference on Support for Ukraine” was held at the Chancellery of the Prime Minister. During one of the panels, the head of the Ministry of Family and Social Policy (MRiPS), Marlena Maląg said that the joint actions of the government, local government and NGOs had shown that Poland had passed the test of humanity.

“The activities that my ministry has dealt with and continues to deal with include, above all, supporting the citizens of Ukraine, organising care and appropriate support for children who were also arriving in Poland without their parents”, said the minister.

The head of the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy emphasised that refugees from Ukraine, by means of a special law, have received the same rights as Poles. They are legally staying in Poland, have the right to legal work, they are also entitled to apply for relevant benefits. Nearly 900,000 refugees from Ukraine have taken up employment, including in the hotel, catering or service sectors.

During the conference, Deputy Head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Administration, Government Plenipotentiary for Refugees from Ukraine Paweł Szefernaker recalled that the largest number of people fleeing the war found their shelter in private Polish homes, he also spoke about the government’s assistance to refugees migrating inside Ukraine.

“The Polish government, through the activities of the Government Agency for Strategic Reserves (RARS), is providing repairs to critical infrastructure, food, medicines. We have built temporary homes for several thousand internal refugees. We have delivered over 30,000 accommodation kits, beds, linens to Ukraine. The humanitarian aid organised by RARS has exceeded more than one billion PLN”, he said.
