Several thousand Carl-Gustaf M4 grenade launchers will be supplied to the Polish army. The Ministry of Defence (MoD) reports that the agreement for the delivery of the equipment was signed at the 3rd Flotilla of Ships in Gdynia in the presence of the heads of the defence ministries of Poland and Sweden.
As part of the agreement, the Polish Army will also receive the following ammunition: anti-tank, fragmentation and demolition, anti-tank and fragmentation, demolition, multifunctional, smoke, illumination, training and exercise. Together with the grenade launchers, the Polish Armed Forces will also receive logistics and training packages and technical documentation.
“We have signed a very important contract. The Polish Armed Forces will be enhanced with excellent, good equipment, with anti-tank grenade launchers of Swedish manufacture. This is one of the most important contracts for equipment that has already proven itself in combat in Ukraine. There are very good reviews about this weapon, it passes the tests very well”, said Minister Władysław Kosiniak – Kamysz during a meeting with Swedish Defence Minister Pål Jonson.
The Carl-Gustaf M4 grenade launcher is designed to combat all types of modern combat vehicles, including heavy armoured vehicles such as tanks. It allows the elimination of enemy manpower and fortified objects, as well as illuminating the battlefield and smothering it.
The heads of defence ministries also discussed issues of Polish-Swedish cooperation in security and defence, the implementation of contracts, assistance to Ukraine and welcoming Sweden as a member of NATO.
“We are extremely pleased that Sweden is becoming a member of NATO, our security alliance, which gives us extraordinary guarantees. I was able to hear today that Sweden knew that it was joining a pact that is organised for cooperation, but most importantly it was joining a pact that would defend every piece of land of the NATO member states. On behalf of the Kingdom of Sweden, Minister Jonson expressed full commitment to Article Five”, said the head of the Polish Defence Ministry after a meeting with the Swedish Defence Minister.
