Energa Wytwarzanie, an ORLEN Group company, and Northland Power have established the Baltic Offshore Service Solution company. This will be the first consortium in Poland to offer a comprehensive offshore wind farm management service.
The new company will provide specialised services for the offshore wind energy sector, related to technical, operational, commercial and contractual aspects. The company will also be responsible for the operation of ORLEN Group’s planned 24/7 Offshore Wind Farm Management Centre. This unit will control, monitor, and coordinate the operations of offshore assets.
“Offshore wind energy is an opportunity for profound transformations in our power system, but also for building new industries. We are already implementing the Baltic Power project and are planning to invest in five more licences, whose development is handled by ORLEN Neptun. The potential of offshore energy in the entire Baltic Sea is estimated at over 90 GW, which means that there will be more and more investments in this area”, said Jarosław Dybowski, ORLEN Energy Executive Director.
The newly established company will benefit from the experience of Energa Wytwarzanie, which has been maintaining onshore RES assets for 15 years and has a portfolio of six wind farms with a total capacity of around 244 MW.
Northland is one of the world’s most experienced companies in the offshore wind sector. The company owns or has interests in generation sources with an installed capacity of 3.4 GW (net 2.9 GW). The company manages both onshore renewable energy sources and offshore wind farms in North America and Europe, achieving a combined annual energy production in excess of 10000 GWh. ORLEN Group and Northland are jointly developing the Baltic Power offshore wind farm project, with a capacity of up to 1.2 GW, which will start producing clean energy in 2026.
