President Andrzej Duda and his wife Agata Kornhauser-Duda will visit the Republic of Kenya. They will then continue the travel to the Republic of Rwanda and the United Republic of Tanzania. This will be the 5th visit of the Polish President to the African continent.

“In a moment, we will begin to continue our international mission to build relations with African countries. I say mission because this is a process that we have been implementing since 2017”, the President said on Sunday, 3 February, during a briefing before his departure for Nairobi.

As Andrzej Duda announced, the trip to Kenya, Rwanda and Tanzania has two main goals: to promote Poland and Polish business and to inform about the situation in our part of Europe.

“Our task is to provide information about the situation in our part of Europe, about the Russian aggression against Ukraine, to explain the origins of the food crisis in Africa, the threats related to it, what measures are being taken, also by us, as much as possible, to neutralise this crisis, caused by Russia”, explained the President.

“Nine bilateral agreements will be signed during the President’s visit to East Africa. A representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr Andrzej Szejna, is travelling with us and will implement them”, Andrzej Duda informed.

Talks in Kenya, Rwanda and Tanzania will also concern Polish development aid to African countries, cooperation in the agricultural, IT, ecological, environmental, fintech, tax, police, and military sectors, with particular emphasis on potential Polish arms exports.

The programme of the visit includes bilateral talks with the presidents of Kenya, Rwanda and Tanzania, Polish-Kenyan and Polish-Rwandan economic forums, a visit to the Kigali tin plant, which is the largest investment in Rwanda, and a meeting with representatives of Polish-related organisations.
