Poland becoming an increasingly popular destination for dental tourism

by Dignity News
In 2023, according to a ranking by medicaltravelmarket.com, Poland was among the 10 countries where tourists are most likely to go for dental treatment. Countries such as Thailand, Mexico, Hungary, Turkey, or the most popular Spain were ranked higher.

“Poland is popular because we have developed extremely high standards of dental and prosthetic treatment, and let’s remember that prices will be affordable for most. So, it is not surprising that we are at the forefront. Dental procedures in many cases can be performed during a trip to a given country, they do not require convalescence or a stay in a clinic, which is why many tourists opt for them”, explains Dr Urszula Jarosz, owner of Varsovia Dental clinic.

She points out, however, that a tourist who has their teeth treated abroad must check beforehand whether the clinic will help them in case of any complications, which must always be considered. It is worth checking what materials the clinic uses and the safety standards.

“Nowadays, many clinics around the world have introduced an offer for travellers and this is something completely normal. I receive a lot of patients from Germany, as we have no language barrier here, which is also important. I see that Turkey has been triumphing for years but let us remember that some of the results of the work of doctors from this country, are by no means what we would like to achieve. People are already talking about the so-called “Turkish teeth” and this is not a compliment”, adds Urszula Jarosz.

“In Poland, we practically have no choice, we have to treat ourselves privately and we have got used to it. The National Health Fund only reimburses basic treatments”, she adds.

Denturism, or dental tourism, is a phenomenon that has been gaining popularity for years. Poles can enjoy the high quality of private services in the country, and for visitors from abroad, an additional incentive is the very attractive price of the services, compared to the prices in their home countries.
