Electrum to build a 205 MW solar-wind hybrid power plant

by DignityNews.eu

Polish company Electrum will build a hybrid solar-wind power plant with a total connecting capacity of 205 MW. The construction is being carried out on a post-mining site in the municipality of Kleczew in the Wielkopolska voivodeship. In addition to the photovoltaic and wind farm, the investment will ultimately include an energy storage facility.

The scope of tasks for which Electrum Group is responsible includes design, construction, installation and assembly of the systems. Three group companies are involved in the implementation of the Kleczew Solar & Wind farm: Electrum Concreo, Electrum Solutions and Electrum Ventures. Key suppliers will be Jinko Solar, Huawei, Budmat and Tele-Fonika Kable. Electrum Group is a Polish climate tech business based in Białystok.

“We are the first Polish contractor of this type of hybrid RES power plant. The project is part of our philosophy of paving the way and providing solutions that can revolutionise the green energy system and accelerate the energy transition. The new installation will enable diversification of energy sources by supplementing solar energy with wind energy and vice versa, depending on local weather conditions”, said Tomasz Taff, commercial director and board member of Electrum Concreo.

Completion of the first phase, the construction of the solar farm, is scheduled for the second half of 2023, the wind farm will be built a year later, and the construction of the energy storage facility is planned for a further stage. This is one of the largest investments of its kind in Poland.

“In the project, we want to apply our unique solution, which is an active and reactive power control system that works with different types of generating units – the Renedium regulator. It will facilitate the control of energy production in one place, regardless of the type of sources, power, location and level of complexity, which is of considerable importance with hybrid power plantsÄ, added Kamil Kozicki, project manager from Electrum Concreo.
