Foreign companies with the support of the Polish Investment and Trade Agency (PAIH) invested more than EUR 3.7 billion in Poland in 2022, EUR 200 million more than a year ago. The largest investors were Germany, Switzerland and Japan. In terms of the value of projects, the most was invested in the e-mobility sector – more than EUR 1.4 billion.
„The year 2022 was the second consecutive record year in terms of foreign investment in Poland. We are no longer a country offering poorly paid labour. We are betting on qualified personnel, primarily among engineers and the broader research and development sector”, said Deputy Minister for Development and Technology, Government Plenipotentiary for Foreign Investment Grzegorz Piechowiak.
Member of the Management Board performing the function and duties of PAIH President Piotr Dytko pointed out that the more than EUR 3.7 billion invested in 2022 by foreign companies with the support of PAIH is about EUR 200 million more than in 2021 and EUR 1 billion more than in 2020.
“126 projects were completed with a positive decision, an increase of 20 % on the previous year. Last year’s investments are expected to create 14,000 new jobs”, Dytko said.
According to PAIH data, the largest investor in terms of financial outlays in 2022 was Germany, which invested more than EUR 1.4 billion in Poland, creating more than 4,000 jobs. Second was Switzerland with projects worth €611 million and generating over 300 jobs, and third was Japan, planning investments of over €320 million and declaring the creation of over 1,000 jobs. A year earlier, the top three investors were South Korea, Germany and the United States.
The provinces of Mazowieckie, Małopolskie, Dolnośląskie and Śląskie attracted the most investment projects in 2022. In terms of value, the winner was the Lower Silesian Voivodeship with investments for almost EUR 2 billion.
