Bill Gates Foundation and Michal Solowow’s investment fund to support ExploRNA Therapeutics

by Dignity News
The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation has donated $813,578 to ExploRNA Therapeutics, a Polish biotech company that is a spin-off from the University of Warsaw. The funds are intended to support further work on the mRNA modification technology created by the scientists, enabling the production of vaccines to prevent the development of infectious diseases.

It should be recalled that this month, the company led by Prof. Jacek Jemielity of the University of Warsaw’s Centre for New Technologies signed a transaction agreement with Michał Sołowow’s Black Forest investment fund, which bought a 20 % stake in ExploRNA Therapeutics.

“We do not intend to produce a vaccine against a specific disease. Our goal is to show that the use of our technology brings real benefits in the creation of vaccines based on mRNA technology, i.e. in preventing the development of infectious diseases, as well as in the treatment of cancer”, said Professor Jacek Jemielity, president of ExploRNA Therapeutics.

ExploRNA Therapeutics is an innovative biotechnology company that develops breakthrough technologies for modifying mRNA (information RNA – a ribonucleic acid formed as a result of transcription on a DNA matrix, which is a working copy of a gene). They open the way to new therapeutic applications.

As Professor Jacek Jemielity announces, the investments will allow the company to stretch its wings. “Over the next three years or more, it will enable us to implement an ambitious research programme that focuses on the use of mRNA for therapeutic purposes. We want to demonstrate a diverse range of applications for this technology, starting with an anti-cancer vaccine”, says the CEO of ExploRNA Therapeutics.
