“The creation of the National Energy Security Agency (NABE) should take place by the end of the first quarter of 2023”, announced Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State Assets Jacek Sasin.
The project to concentrate the coal assets of energy companies in NABE will soon be submitted to the government. After its approval, talks with the European Commission on the support system for conventional energy will begin.
The head of the state assets ministry said that a broad consensus had been reached on such an important issue as the energy transition and it should be read as a success. “The interests of employees and companies have been protected while energy security is guaranteed”, he said.
Under the agreement, which was signed at the Ministry of State Assets, there are labour guarantees for employees in the companies that will be affected by the energy transition and the establishment of NABE. The provisions of the agreement are the result of months of talks between the government, the social side, and companies in the energy sector.
According to the Deputy Prime Minister, the signed social agreement will minimise the negative socio-economic effects of the transition and will be the basis for a sustainable energy transition.
As the Ministry of State Assets emphasises, the concluded agreement is the result of intensive and close cooperation between the Social Side of the Tripartite Teams for the Lignite Industry and the Energy Sector, Representatives of Energy Groups (Enea, Energa, Polska Grupa Energetyczna and Tauron Polska Energia) and the Ministry of State Assets.
The agreed provisions of the social agreement allow for the preservation of employees’ rights, employment stability and existing working conditions. The agreement includes a provision on a system of social protection for employees of electricity generation and lignite mining companies.
