The Minister of Sport and Tourism has announced an Olympic programme with a record budget of nearly PLN 180 million – 22% more than last year. In this year’s programme, all Polish sports associations will receive a higher subsidy.
“I am committed to creating optimal training conditions for national team players, which is why I have decided to increase the funds earmarked for the implementation of the Olympic programme to nearly PLN 180 million. This is PLN 32.5 million more than last year. We have two very important events ahead of us – the 2023 Krakow-Malopolska European Games and the 2024 Olympic Games to be held in Paris. We will support the Polish athletes on their way to achieving their sporting dreams”, says Kamil Bortniczuk, Minister of Sport and Tourism.
The goals of the programme are to create optimal training conditions for national team athletes with high sporting potential, with a chance to achieve high results, including achieving Olympic qualification and winning medals and points, and to enable participation in international and national championship competitions to achieve high results, including achieving Olympic qualification and winning medals and points.
The programme is also intended to provide national team athletes with the necessary sports and specialised equipment, which is indispensable for the continuity of training in a multi-year training process. Support under the programme will include summer and winter Olympic sports and team sports games.
Tasks supported under the programme include: preparation for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games and the 2023 world and European championships in summer Olympic sports; preparation for the 2026 Milan-Cortina d’Ampezzo winter Olympic Games and preparation for and participation in the 2023 world and European championships in winter Olympic sports; and preparation for the 2023 Krakow-Malopolska III European Games.
