„The Polish Army will return to Grajewo after 28 years. The military unit in Grajewo was liquidated in 1994, today the Law and Justice government is restoring the army in the town”, said Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of National Defence Mariusz Błaszczak during a visit to Podlasie.
In Grajewo, the head of the Ministry of Defence signed an agreement with local authorities to provide real estate for a military unit established in the town, and met with soldiers who serve in Podlasie, students of military classes and residents of the region.
The signed agreement includes real estate owned by the town of Grajewo and managed by the State Forests. In total, the Polish Army will acquire a compact complex of almost 57 ha. In addition, a property in Wojewodzin near Grajewo with an area of 14.5 ha will be transferred for the planned military unit.
“This unit will soon be established in Grajewo and will become part of a new division – the Podlaska Division of the Polish Army, another division formed in the east of our country”, informed Deputy Prime Minister Błaszczak.
He announced that the Polish authorities will do everything to ensure that “the Polish land is not occupied by the rebuilding Russian empire” and added that to make this happen, the Polish Army “must be strong and large in number, armed with modern weapons, and we are consistently carrying out this process. That is why a motorised brigade will be established in Grajewo and the Grajewo district”, said the head of the national defence ministry.
The unit in Grajewo is another project related to the strengthening of defence capabilities, which will be implemented in Podlasie, in the east of Poland. On 5 November, an agreement was signed on the transfer of land for a military unit to be established in Kolno also as part of the Podlasie Division of the Polish Army.
