Chinese group Geely to provide the platform for the first Polish electric car to be developed

by Dignity News
ElectroMobility Poland (EMP) and China’s largest private automotive group Geely have signed a licence agreement under which Geely will provide the company with a SEA (Sustainable Experience Architecture) platform dedicated to electric cars. The Izera, Poland’s first electric car, will be developed on this platform.

Designed at global R&D centres in Europe and China by Geely Holding, SEA technology is a specially engineered architecture dedicated to electric vehicles. It enables the construction of both small A-segment and E-segment vehicles as well as large commercial vehicles. It also provides an extensive software structure, which reduces investment costs. It allows the wheelbase to be adjusted from 1800 mm to 3300 mm, depending on requirements.

“We are convinced that this advanced technology platform will help EMP to bring the highest quality products to the market, guaranteeing their technological quality in terms of mechanical components, software and scalability of solutions”, stressed EMP CEO Piotr Zaremba.

He pointed out that Poland plays an important role in the European automotive industry and is convinced that this agreement will enable a faster transition to electric drives, creating wider economic opportunities in the area of electromobility.

“In the long term, this technology partnership allows us to grow, to involve local suppliers more and to implement the project within the assumed business framework”, stressed the EMP chief.

ElectroMobility Poland was established in October 2016 and was an initiative of four Polish energy companies: PGE, Energa, Enea and Tauron, which each took up 25% of the share capital. The value of the share capital amounted to PLN 70 million. EMP is planning to develop three electric car models. The first of these will be an SUV.
