First ultra-fast electric car charger available at ORLEN stations

by Dignity News
PKN ORLEN has launched the first ultra-fast charging station in its network with a capacity of 175 kW. The device allows a car to be charged from 10 to 80 % of its battery capacity in about 20 minutes. This is as much as two-thirds faster than charging stations with a standard power of up to 50kW.

In line with the strategy, further devices of this type will be developed in the ORLEN network. By 2030, the ORLEN Group will have at least 1,000 charging stations in Poland, including those with a power of 150-350 kW.

The first ultra-fast charging station can already be used on the A1 motorway (MOP Machnacz Południe). With a capacity of 175 kW, the station is able to charge a battery with a capacity of over 70 kWh from 10 to 80 % in just over 20 minutes. The device from the company Ekoenergetyka-Polska is equipped with connectors compatible with all electric car models available on the Polish market. Using the ORLEN Charge mobile application, it is possible to obtain information on the availability of connectors and monitor the current charging session.

In Poland, ORLEN Group has over 300 stations with a capacity of up to 50 kW and as many as 160 units with a capacity of 50-150 kW. The expansion of its offer with ultra-fast chargers is a response to the growing needs of customers in the e-mobility market. Taking into account the increasing popularity of electric cars and the growing potential of upcoming models, the corporation has invested in innovative high-powered charging stations.

According to data from the end of June 2022, a total of 51,000 passenger and commercial electric cars have travelled on Polish roads. For the first six months of 2022, the number of electrics increased by 12,207 units, which is 45 % more than in the same period of 2021.

At the end of June 2022, a total of 2232 electric vehicle charging stations (4327 points) were available in Poland.
