The Azoty Group has announced that construction work on the restoration of the Oder Waterway will start in spring 2023. The work will result in the creation of a container terminal, the rail infrastructure will be modernised, and the port basin will be adapted for transshipment.
Design work and the search for partners to carry out the various tasks is currently underway. Construction work is scheduled to start in spring 2023 and the entire set of logistics-related projects is expected to be completed by 2030. The investment will include the construction of an open-access container terminal, as well as the modernisation of the railway infrastructure and the port basin, including its adaptation for transshipment.
At the end of September, Group Azoty Zakłady Azotowe Kędzierzyn (ZAK) S.A., a member of the Azoty Group, announced that it had signed a letter of intent with Trans International Logistic Centrum for the implementation of logistics projects and the restoration of inland waterway transport.
“Azoty Group is predestined to restore the economic function of the Oder River due to the location of two key Group companies along its course, i.e. Kędzierzyn and Police. These activities are part of the key project of Group Azoty’s strategy until 2030, i.e. “Green Azoty”, and therefore- in the idea of sustainable, low-emission transport, which is a component of green logistics”, said Grupa Azoty ZAK board member Bolesław Goranczewski.
Group Azoty Zakłady Azotowe Kędzierzyn S.A. is a manufacturer of nitrogenous fertilisers and OXO alcohols and plasticisers. Kędzierzyn’s products are used in such economic sectors as agriculture, construction, chemical processing, plastics and automotive industries. The company has its own thermal power plant and loading port, and also provides specialised laboratory services.
