Minister of National Defence Mariusz Blaszczak has approved a framework agreement between the PGZ-WWR Consortium and the Armament Agency for the supply of elements of multi-missile launchers, which the Polish Armed Forces will obtain from the United States and South Korea.

“I approved the agreement, concluded between the consortium headed by the Polish Armament Group and the Armament Agency, concerning the preparation of Polish elements in the construction of launchers and entire squadrons of both Chunmoo and Himars multi-launcher missiles”, said Minister Błaszczak after approving the agreement.

The PGZ-WWR consortium comprises: Polish Armament Group S.A. (leader), Steel Works Stalowa Wola S.A., Jelcz Ltd., Rosomak S.A., Wojskowe Zakłady Łączności No. 1 S.A. and PIT-RADWAR S.A. The project related to the implementation of national elements of long-range rocket artillery fire modules is the second largest programme, in terms of value, to be directed to the Polish defence industry.

“We are concerned with strengthening the combat potential of the Polish armed forces quickly and effectively and we are doing this consistently trying to make maximum use of the potential of the Polish defence industry and developing this potential through actions such as today”, explained the head of the Ministry of Defence.

The first K239 CHUNMOO launchers mounted on Jelcz will reach the equipment of the Polish Army as early as next year. As part of the signed agreement, elements such as the Jelcz chassis on which the launchers will be mounted, reconnaissance vehicles, ammunition vehicles, technical evacuation vehicles and command vehicles will be produced in the Polish Armed Forces Group.

“This is undoubtedly our very big, collective achievement. At first, only the components, but later, I am convinced, also the other elements of this artillery will be produced in our country”, announced Minister Błaszczak.
