Ørsted and the Polish Energy Group (PGE) have selected the contractor for the Baltica Offshore Wind Farm. The design for both stages will be prepared by a Polish company of the Danish engineering and design consultancy group Ramboll together with the Polish design office Projmors. The commissioning of the first stage of the project, Baltica 3 with a capacity of up to 1,045.5 MW, is planned for 2026.

Offshore wind energy is a competitive market where companies gain experience and build competence by working together in a consortium formed between a global and a national player. We have seen these good practices in other markets, and now we can also see it in Poland”, says Søren Westergaard Jensen, a project director of the Baltica Offshore Wind Farm on behalf of Ørsted.

The contractor, a consortium of Ramboll Polska and Projmors Biuro Projektów Budownictwa Morskiego, was selected through a competitive dialogue tender. Its task is to prepare the design documentation for the foundations, turbines, internal cables and offshore substations, as well as to obtain a building permit and then to prepare the technical design.

“We have completed a key procedure that precedes the final investment decision for the construction of the Baltica Offshore Wind Farm with a capacity of approximately 2.5 GW – the largest in the Baltic Sea. We are starting to work with a contractor who has extensive experience of offshore wind energy and the permitting process. We are glad that the consortium includes a design office from Gdańsk, which proves that Polish companies are actively using the opportunities to become involved in the development of offshore wind energy in Poland’ stated PGE CEO Wojciech Dąbrowski.
