“The value of Polish exports of windows and doors to the United States increased by 106%, to more than €26 million, in the first five months of 2022, compared to the same period a year earlier”, reports the Centre for Industry Analysis (CAB).
According to the CAB, at the end of 2022, Poland has a good chance to overtake Germany and become the European runner-up in woodwork exports to the US.
“Although it may prove very difficult to maintain such a high growth rate of exports to the US, I am convinced that the 2022 season will end with very large increases in the sales of Polish products to this country. Even an increase at the level of 60-70% at the end of this year will be a big success, and the USA will move up several positions on the list of the largest recipients of Polish windows and doors’, assessed CAB chief analyst Maksymilian Miros.
The largest exporters of windows and doors to the US are Canada, China and Brazil, and among European countries: Italy, Germany and Poland.
According to data collected by the CAB, the USA is among the second ten most popular export destinations for Polish manufacturers. The value of sales of domestic windows and doors in the USA amounted to approximately EUR 40 million in 2021, an increase of 13 % compared to the 2020 season. Most of the plastic and aluminium windows and doors were sold there; steel and wood products are much less popular for export.
In 2021, Poland was the world leader in the export of plastic windows and wood. Since joining the European Union, Polish exports of woodwork products have increased almost tenfold to almost €3 billion last year.
The largest EU buyer is Germany, which bought 35 % of plastic windows and doors and more than 25 % of wood and aluminium doors and windows in 2021. France, Italy, Belgium, the Netherlands, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Sweden were also important buyers.
