Magicians’ Carnaval in Lublin

by Dignity News
From 28 to 31 July, Lublin will host Poland’s largest festival of circus arts. Magicians’ Carnaval is an event presenting the art of a new circus, i.e. a form drawn from traditional circus, balancing between performance and theatre, acrobatics and clowning, which has been held in Lublin since 2008. Carnaval is subsidised by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage.

Street artists and masters of circus arts from all over the world will come to Lublin in the last days of July to present breathtaking performances and shows. Participants in the Carnaval will be entertained by street performances, duo shows, soloists, musicians and buskers that will take place, as usual, on Lublin’s streets, squares and in the corners of the Old Town.

The circus tents will host unique new-circus performances, while the zone on the Błonia near Lublin Castle will offer visitors the opportunity to try their hand at juggling or tightrope walking.

The event will also feature the Urban Highline Festival, thanks to which the carnival event space will be enriched with a sky-high stage. The public will be able to admire slackliners balancing on tapes around the Old Town and Downtown.

The Urban Highline Festival is the oldest highliner festival in Europe and one of the largest official highline festivals in the world taking place in an urban space. The Carnaval of the Arts has been organised in Lublin since 2009 and since then thousands of highliners from more than 50 countries have visited the city. Spectators watch the tapes stretched over their heads and the daredevils walking on them.
