President Andrzej Duda remarked after the meeting of the National Security Council (RBN) that it was a very concrete conversation on important Polish security issues and Poland’s military situation. He added that the atmosphere of the meeting was pro-state and substantial and that a number of interesting proposals were made during the meeting.
The President said that he reported to the participants of the RBN the details of the progress of the NATO summit in Madrid recounting in detail all the decisions made, as well as the backstage talks and the atmosphere accompanying the summit.
Speaking about the RBN meeting, Andrzej Duda stressed the very good atmosphere of the meeting, very pro-state and very substantive statements.
“It was not a political debate, it was a very specific conversation about important Polish issues, very specific issues related to security, to the military situation of Poland in the context of the provisions of the NATO summit, in the context of the allied presence in our country and on the eastern flank of the North Atlantic Alliance,’ he said.
According to the President, a number of interesting proposals for the future emerged during the RBN meeting.
“I think I can boldly say to all my compatriots – politicians from all sides of the political scene approach the issue of Poland’s security very seriously, absolutely above all divisions,” said Andrzej Duda and added that care for security is unchangeable regardless of who rules Poland and at what time.
The President also referred to the Madrid NATO summit. He assessed that the decisions made there – especially concerning the permanent presence of the US Army’s V Corps advanced command – greatly strengthen Poland’s security. He pointed out that this allied presence is of fundamental importance until Poland completes its programme of modernising the army and strengthening it in terms of infrastructure and number of soldiers.
