Meeting of the Ambassadors of the Republic of Poland held in Warsaw

The meeting of the Ambassadors of the Republic of Poland has been taking place in Warsaw since June 20. It is attended by ambassadors and permanent representatives of Poland to international organizations.

This is the first meeting of heads of Polish diplomatic missions and permanent representations after a two-year break due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

During their stay in Warsaw, ambassadors and permanent representatives of the Republic of Poland have already visited President Andrzej Duda and Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki to discuss current and future cooperation.

“I believe that sanctions should be maintained until Ukraine says they can be lifted. It is Ukraine that was attacked. If Ukraine says that sanctions can be lifted because normality is returning, and Ukraine also had serious interests with Russia, then the West can also seriously think about lifting the sanctions. And as long as it is not, these sanctions must be increased, said President Andrzej Duda at a meeting with the Polish ambassadors.

The Polish president emphasized that the point is to make Vladimir Putin want to talk, not “European leaders to ask the aggressor to talk to him”.

During the meeting at the Chancellery of the Prime Minister, the head of the government, Mateusz Morawiecki, outlined the key areas of Poland’s foreign policy and emphasized that numerous challenges related to Russia’s aggressive actions require firm responses.

“The Polish position is clear: there is no return to business as usual for us. There is no return for us to the time before February 24th. Russia must withdraw”, said Mateusz Morawiecki.

He also called for the maintenance of European solidarity. According to the prime minister, “Russia is terrified of the cooperation between Poland, Ukraine and Lithuania, the Baltic countries” and the rebuilding of Poland’s position in the international arena.
