According to a survey by the Polish Hotel Industry Chamber of Commerce (IGHP) on the results of hotels in the last month, in all hotel categories, the occupancy rate in May improved by about a dozen percentage points compared to April. Hoteliers indicate that during the holidays it can be expected slightly higher prices in the facilities compared to the previous year. Most hotels indicate a price increase of up to 20%.

May was another month of improvement of results in relation to the previous year and also another best result this year. As IGHP notes, the occupancy rates in May in many hotels reached satisfactory levels. Also, as in March and April, the results of city (business) hotels were clearly better than those of non-city (leisure) hotels.

In city hotels, nearly 85% recorded an attendance of over 50%, and only 8% of hotels did not exceed 30% of occupancy. In non-urban hotels, half of the facilities recorded an occupancy rate of over 50% and 7% respectively, obtaining less than 30% of occupancy.

The data on the average price of hotel rooms invariably show a continuous upward trend. Compared to 2019, 81% of facilities indicated an increase and in relation to May last year, 83%, including 27% of hotels indicated an increase of more than 20%.

IGHP emphasizes that the need to raise prices by hotels results from the rising costs of goods and services, including, in particular, gas, electricity and food prices, as well as wages and salaries. Another factor forcing these increases is the economic consequences of the war in Ukraine.

135 hotels located in all voivodeships participated in the survey that was conducted on June 9-14.
