Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Marcin Przydacz said that in Western Europe there are opinions suggesting exchanging peace for some concessions to Russia. “This is the so-called appeasement policy. We know it well from the 1930s. We know its repercussions then and in recent years. From 2008, through 2014 until 2022 we have constant war.

He assessed the visit to Kyiv of French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi stating that “today’s Chamberlain can be found among those three who visited Kyiv”.

“And that was one of the reasons why we didn’t necessarily want to be part of this meeting. We rather prefer the formats of those politicians who implement a policy consistent with the interest of the Polish state. And certainly, appeasement towards Russia is not in line with the interest of the Polish state”, explained Marcin Przydacz.

On Sunday, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation said that Poland is “the undisputed leader in the number of foreign mercenaries fighting for Ukraine”. The Russian Ministry of National Defense published fake data according to which 1,830 Poles fight on the front, “of which 378 have died”.

Referring to this information, Deputy Minister Przydacz said that there are Poles who cross the Polish-Ukrainian border one way and the other, stating different purposes of their visit including business or tourism. “And, of course, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has had data on it”, said Przydacz.

When asked how many tourists cross the Polish-Ukrainian border, the deputy head of Polish diplomacy answered that “there are thousands of people who come to Ukraine for various reasons. However, I do not have any information about the Poles fighting there.”
