Government to guarantee coal prices for individual consumers

by Dignity News
The Polish government presented draft solutions that will help stabilize the price of coal and increase its availability for individual consumers.

Details of the solutions were presented at a joint press conference by the Minister of Climate and Environment, Anna Moskwa, the Minister of Finance, Magdalena Rzeczkowska, and the spokesman for the government, Piotr Müller.

The Minister of Climate and Environment, Anna Moskwa, presented proposals aimed at increasing the supply on the coal market and stabilizing its price.

The solutions include: guaranteed coal price for households at PLN 996.60; establishing a network of authorized distributors of Polska Grupa Górnicza; introducing compensation for sellers who join the government program.

In connection with Russia’s aggression against Ukraine, an embargo on Russian coal was introduced. In this situation, some intermediaries increased the prices of coal even threefold, despite the fact that in the Polish Mining Group a ton of fuel cost PLN 900-1000.

The government has developed solutions that will increase the supply of coal on the market, which will lower its price. They will stabilize coal prices so that they are acceptable to individual customers. At the same time, coal supplies to Poland are secured.

“Entities that decide to cooperate in this specific government program are required to register and hereby guarantee that coal is delivered to individual recipients only at such a price”, said Minister of Climate and Environment Anna Moskwa.

According to the program, the state guarantees the purchase of 3 tons of coal at a reduced price. Subsidies also cover cooperatives and housing communities.
